Is Disney a Monopoly?

Today I chose to talk about the company Disney. Disney would be in the movie media sector but also in the music sector. Disney is a prime example of horizontal integration because of how many smaller companies they own. So many of the media outlets we use everyday are owned by Disney and we aren't even aware. One of my favorite TV channels, FX, is owned by Disney. Disney also owns ESPN, ABC, Pixar studios, Miramax, marvel, Lifetime, The History channel and so much more. Of course they also own there own disney channels on TV and all disney movies. Disney even owns movie franchises that we dont realize including Star Wars and Indiana Jones. There are Disney theme parks and even a Disney cruise line. Disney is on the verse of being a monopoly because even though it seems there are companies in compeition with it, disney owns most of those companies making them superior.

How to save power on the iPhone

Today's blog post will be about how you can save energy using your iPhone, what the options actually do, how to adjust them, and how easy it can be! I chose the iPhone because it is definitely the device I spend most of my time on. Apple iPhones offer a setting called "low power mode." A notification comes up asking if you want to turn on low power mode when your battery gets down to 20%. When low power mode is on, your phone won't need to be charged as often. The low power mode is easily found in settings and then "battery." You can also add the mode to your control center for easy access. Instructions on how to use this low power mode can be found  here . I find low power mode on my iphone very easy to use. Another energy-saving setting that iPhones have is nighttime display. You can set your iphone so that at a certain t...

Is knowing your steps worth it?

Before the apple watch became popular, the Fitbit was very popular with active people and even normal people. Personally, I would never decribe myself as a athletic person but I love my fitbit. I can know when I've hit over 10,000 steps which, during marching band season is almost everyday. With a fitbit you can also keep track of your sleep, track your food and water and even use the app as a period tracker (which comes in very handy). Because I'm such a fan of the device and use it everyday, I decided to look up the companies environmental standards/ impact. According to the  Fitbit website  the company requires their suppliers to meet environmental standards set in several rules they have set. They require the suppliers to put out as little waste as possible or eliminate waste by modifying produdction, handle and store chemicals in a way that won't be harmful, use a water system that conserves water and several others. Now that is just what fitbit says they do on their w...
