Week 7 Journal

The first article I found is titled, "Doctors Discover Booze Brewing in Sober Woman's Bladder." A 61-year-old woman from Pennsylvania was seeking a liver transplant and caused quite the shock when doctors discovered the presence of alcohol in her bladder. She insisted that she had not been drinking. Eventually, doctors discovered that the real trouble was that her liver was producing alcohol on its own. Urinary Auto Brewery Syndrome is a condition in which a person's urine produces too much sugar and yeast- the two key ingredients for fermentation. This case helps doctors to see how easily the syndrome can be overlooked.

On January 18th, a Michigan man named Neil Patrick Wasinski was charged with assault two days after allegedly stabbing a victim with a 21-inch samurai sword. After the stabbing, Wasinski chased the 23-year-old victim into a parking lot before they both ran to their separate apartments. When the police found the victim he was smoking a cigarette and holding a bloody towel to his side. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and has recovered since then. The victim explained to police that he was Wasinskis boyfriend and claimed his partner decided to stab him after he failed to buy him marijuana. Wasinski was charged with assault with intent to murder and resisting police. The intent to murder charge was dismissed after Wasinski pleaded no contest to the other charges on February 13th.

Semester Review

It became easier Throughout the course of this semester, I’ve gone through many ups and downs with writing. After graduating from high school, I thought I was a pretty good writer. I took college compositive my senior year and got really good grades, so I wasn’t that worried about writing in college. Well let me tell you, I was knocked down a few pegs my freshman year of college. Now I think I’m an okay writer, but I definitely do struggle a bit. I took this class to fulfill requirements for my communication minor, and really I don’t plan on being a journalist, but I did learn skills in this class that will help me with writing in general during my future career.              I’ve learned how important non-biased writing is and how damaging biased writing can be on both the article and public opinion. When writing news articles as a journalist it’s incredibly important to double and triple-check that sources are very ...
