Week 8 Journal

Come on down to the first annual Others Outdoor Market! "Others" is a boutique in downtown Fargo that only sells high-quality products made ethically and out of sustainable materials. Every company represented in the store is completely transparent about who makes their products and where their materials are found. "Others" goal is to educate people on how the items they buy matter. Whether it be the items you wear, the items you use, or gifts you buy. Customers can feel content knowing exactly how their products were made. The store also gives 100% of its profits to worthy causes locally and globally. This year, owner Laura Morris wanted to hold an event where customers can come and shop from a higher variety of products than the store normally holds. The first-ever Others Outdoor Market will be held on June 13th at Island Park in downtown Fargo. The market opens at 9 am and closes at 4 pm. If the weather is an issue, the market will be held inside the Plains Art Museum at the same time frame. Fifteen vendors from the midwest will have booths around the park and will be selling clothing, jewelry, toiletries, home goods and more! Make sure to come at lunchtime because there will be several food vendors as well. The first 50 people to show up to the event will be given bags with coupons to many vendors and a couple free products! Ten percent all of the proceeds of the market will be donated to The Adventure Project, a non-profit that supports job creation in developing countries.

I took college compositive my senior year and got really good grades, so I wasn’t that worried about writing in college. Well let me tell you, I was knocked down a few pegs my freshman year of college. Now I think I’m an okay writer, but I definitely do struggle a bit. I took this class to fulfill requirements for my communication minor, and really I don’t plan on being a journalist, but I did learn skills in this class that will help me with writing in general during my future career.              I’ve learned how important non-biased writing is and how damaging biased writing can be on both the article and public opinion. When writing news articles as a journalist it’s incredibly important to double and triple-check that sources are very ...
